Celebrated Vermont novelist, Howard Frank Mosher
was head of the Green Writers Press advisory board
and a dear friend of the press. He also worked as an
editor (gratis) on our upcoming poetry book, Last
Correspondence, by Leland Kinsey. GWP published
Howard’s short story “Kingdom County Come” in our
anthology Contemporary Vermont Fiction edited by
Robin MacArthur.

 
Green Writers Press announces the 2nd Annual
Howard Frank Mosher Book Prize. This publication
prize is for a novelist or short story writer from
Vermont, or one who writes about Vermont and/or
the themes that resonate so well with Howard’s
work: nature, small-town stories, love, friendship,
forgiveness, Vermont, solitude, and rural life, that
are part of Howard ‘s literary legacy. So, basically, it
is open to everyone (over 18) who wants to continue
the literary, grassroots tradition of storytelling in
our time. This award is especially poignant because
Howard was a part of its creation before he passed
away in January of 2017.

 

The prize will be awarded annually to a novelist of
any age, emerging first-time novelist, or mid-career
writers with a published novel.

 

 

A percentage of the proceeds from this entry fee will
also be donated to a charity of Howard’s choice in his
