The Liz McMullen Show Publications is curating submissions for Southern Voices, a forthcoming anthology of diverse short fiction stories celebrating the Deep South. This anthology intends to fray the media-hyped stereotype that all Southern people impart the same beliefs (and the same accent!) by authentically representing the variety of the region. 

Editors Liz McMullen and Julia Watts would like to receive tales of Southerners who portray a spectrum of ethnic cultures, sexual preferences, gender identities, social pedigrees, and viewpoints. 

The editors welcome modern or historical stories as long as they interpret time and location accurately and creatively. Fiction (sub)genres and story themes are open, but no erotica, unjustified violence, or apostrophe- stuffed dialogue.

Word length: between 2500 and 4500 words. Submit only original, unpublished stories.

Token payment: $50 per story, plus two print copies and one digital copy.

The anthology is scheduled for release in Fall 2017.
