Conversations on Race

Below, watch installments from the New York Times’ “Conversation on Race” Op-Doc video series – 5 minute short films on race in America, broadly speaking, each featuring frank and open revelations on the incendiary topic.

Op-Docs is the New York Times editorial department’s award-winning section for short, opinionated documentaries (op-docs), covering current affairs, contemporary life and historical subjects. Launched  in 2011, Op-Docs videos are produced by both renowned and emerging filmmakers.

The “Race” series includes: “A Conversation With Police on Race,” “A Conversation With My Black Son,” “A Conversation About Growing Up Black,” “A Conversation With White People on Race,” and the latest installment, ‘A Conversation With Black Women on Race,’ which was directed by Michèle Stephenson and Joe Brewster (the couple directed the acclaimed 2013 feature-length documentary, “American Promise” – a 12-year journey that follows their son and his best friend, from kindergarten at a private prep school, all the way through high school graduation. It was covered on this blog).

Watch all 5 op-docs below, starting with the most recent release:
