PRIZES:

First-place winner receives $1,000, publication in
SHR, and an invitation to read at the 2015 Auburn
Writers’ Conference.

Runners-up and finalists will also be named. Results will be announced in August 2015. All submissions will be considered for publication in SHR.

CONTEST GUIDELINES

Each entrant can submit up to three poems of witness, along with a $15 reading fee. In exchange, they will receive a one-year subscription to SHR. All entries will be blind-screened by SHR editors before being sent to the final judge.

Submit your work via our online submission manager.

You should enter your personal information into the required submission manager fields—but your name, address, e-mail, and phone number should not appear on your manuscript. Your submission must be free of all identifying information.

Contest fees can be paid via our secure online marketplace or by check/money order via post (sent to the address at the bottom of this page). Your submission will be passed to the editors once we receive your payment.

Entries must be unpublished. We accept simultaneous submissions. You may withdraw your submission at any time via our online submission manager—if you do so, you will still receive your one-year subscription to SHR.

Contest results will be announced on our website and social media in August 2015.
