Opening this month’s soundcloud playlist is a deep house banger from South African DJ Mobi Dixon who, with the help of soulful vocalist and musician M’Que, has one of the biggest songs in the country at the moment and, quite possibly, one of the most played and requested tracks of 2015 in South Africa. As you move along in the playlist, different blends of house music are scattered throughout with the likes of Culoe De Song and the legendary Thandiswa Mazwai, who appears again with rapper pH, 2015 breakthrough artist TiMO ODV, Jackie Queens and the saxophone driven hit track ‘CountYOUR Blessings.’ 

However, the most irresistible feature on the playlist comes from the hugely talented artist with a voice that seems deceivingly small upon first listen, UK-based Nao. With two strong EPs under her belt in the space of a few months, our imaginations can barely wrap our heads around how mind blowing a full length from her would be like. If her irresistibly sensual song ‘Apple Cherry’ doesn’t touch you in all the right ways, well…nah, it will. 

Other standout tunes include ’Slyza Tsotsi,’ a collaboration between Major League DJz and rappers Riky Rick and Cassper Nyovest signaling the birth of a new kwaito sound, a recently releasedOFFERING from the unofficial King of Shangaan Electro Nozinja, Bassekou Kouyaté’s melodic Malian rock, Lianne La Havas’ debut single off her upcoming second album, and singer Szjerdene lending her vocals to a finely produced Lapalux tune.
