Apply Online

  1. Send by June 17, 2015, Midnight, all U.S. time zones.
  2. Payment is $20 per submission and includes your free copy of the anthology. Payment is by credit card or echeck through PayPal.
  3. We accept the following formats: Microsoft Word (.doc), Adobe Acrobat (.pdf), Rich Text Format (.rtf), and Plain Text (.txt). Please note that the Word format (.docx) is not accepted at this time, so if using Word, please save your file in the (.doc) format.

  5. After clicking Upload, allow five seconds, then follow payment instructions to conclude your submission.

Additional Guidelines

  • Simultaneous submissions welcome. Previously published material is welcome if online only or had a circulation of under 5,000.
  • Fiction or nonfiction pieces must be 6,000 words or less. Short-short Fiction must be 1,000 words or less.
  • Each poetry entry may include up to three poems, up to five pages total. All poetry Honorable Mentions will be published.
  • Paypal provides contact information with each entry, so cover letters are not necessary. If you wish to include a cover letter, please include it with your submission and send as one file.
  • Each entry must be in a separate file.

Apply Offline

  • Mail to “NMW,”, 4021 Garden Drive, Knoxville, TN 37918. Entries should be postmarked on or before June 17, 2015.
  • Send $20 check or money order drawn on an American bank, payable to New Millennium Writings.
  • Include cover letter or title page with name, address, phone and email address.
  • Send business-size SASE or email address for list of winners.
  • Manuscripts are recycled, not returned, unless specifically requested. (Include SASE with sufficient return postage.)

Salinger, Julia Glass, Shel Silverstein, Khaled Hosseini, George Garrett, Ken Kesey, John Updike, Lee Smith, Lucille Clifton, William Burroughs, Shelby Foote, Paul West, Norman Mailer, William Kennedy, and many others.
