Surface Gallery—located at 16 Southwell Road, Nottingham, United Kingdom—invites all local artists to explore and embrace Caribbean culture in the exhibition entitled ‘Caribbean Open.’ The event will coincide with this year’s Nottingham Caribbean Carnival, taking place across the city on August 17, 2014. The exhibition will be on view from August 15-30, 2014. The deadline for submissions is August 12 at 6:00pm. As the organizers say, “Painting, textiles, sculpture, graffiti, jewellery, drawing, video, photography, anything goes.” There will also be a launch party on August 15, 2014, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm.

For this spectacular and colourful exhibition, Surface will provide a stage to celebrate different kinds of creative expression, bringing the community together with Caribbean music, art and food.

Everyone is welcome to participate in this Open Call for submissions. Up to six pieces can be submitted per person, for £5 per work or £20 for six, and every submission will be displayed. All we ask is that your work be Caribbean themed.

Download an application pack here or pick up a paper copy from the gallery during opening hours.
