Call for Submissions:
“Text as Memoir—Tales of Travel,
Immigration and Exile”
Dr. Rafael Ocasio (Charles A. Dana Professor of Spanish at Agnes Scott College), interim editor of South Atlantic Review (SAR) calls for articles for inclusion in a special issue on the theme “Text as Memoir: Tales of Travel, Immigration and Exile.” The deadline for submission of completed essays is July 31, 2014.
Recommended subjects are: Diasporic Identities and Empire; Emigration, Immigration, Empire, Exile: Women’s Voices and their Rhetorical Forms; Food and Memoir; Humor as Reflection/Deflection in Memoir; Intersections of Memory and Exile; Food and Memoir; Humor as Reflection/Deflection in Memoir; Identities in Displacement; Intersections of Memory and Exile; Memory, Exile, and Home; Out of Place: Postcolonial Memoir; Representations of Travels; Tales of Linguistic Cultural and Literary Travel; Travelers, Migrants, Exiles, and Prisoners.
Please notice that these are only suggestions. If you have other ideas, do not hesitate to contact Dr. Ocasio.
All submissions (to be sent by July 31, 2014) must be double-spaced and between 6,000 and 7,500 words in length, not including Works Cited, and must be formatted in accordance with MLA style with endnotes. All submissions will be peer-reviewed by two outside reviewers in accordance with SAR’s reviewing procedures.
