The London Magazine’s Poetry Competition 2014

For the first time since its resurgence, The London Magazine will be hosting a worldwide poetry competition which will be open for all ages.

Opening Date: 1st May 2014
Closing Date: 30th June 2014

This will be a chance to get published in the most prestigious literary journal in the UK which has been home to the likes of Sylvia Plath, Ted Hughes, Christopher Reid and many more, along with winning a cash prize.

First Prize: £200
Second Prize: £150 
Third Prize: £100

The winning poem will be published in an issue of The London Magazine, both in print and online. The runners up will be featured on the website.

Entry fee: £5 per poem.

There is no limit on the amount of poems you can submit.

The winners will be announced at a reception, which will be confirmed closer to the date.

Judges:

Hugh Dunkerley grew up in Edinburgh and Bath and now lives in Brighton with his wife and young son. His first full length poetry collection, Hare (Cinnamon Press), came out in 2010. He is currently working on a new collection about fatherhood. He has been a Gregory Award winner, a Hawthornden Fellow and a Leighton Fellow at The Banff Centre for The Arts in Canada. He currently teaches English and Creative Writing at The University of Chichester.

Michael O’Neill has published two collections of poems, The Stripped Bed (Collins Harvill, 1990) and Wheel (Arc, 2008). He is the co-editor of The Oxford Handbook of Percy Bysshe Shelley (2013). Michael O’Neill’s third collection of poetry Gangs of Shadow will be published by Arc this year.
