2014 Anthology
Open for Submissions
Once again we are delighted to open our submission floodgates to your stories for the annual NFFD anthology. This year, our topic is ‘The Senses’ and you should feel free to interpret that however you like. There are the 5 usual ones, but there is also that strange 6th sense. And what about a sense of fair play, of right and wrong, of place or of humour?
However you care to work with our theme, we want to read your stories. The word limit is 500 words, and you can submit up to 3 stories. Please include them in the email, not as attachments, and follow all the guidelines below.
All writers who have a story selected for the anthology will receive a free print copy of the book upon publication.
This year’s editors will be the Director of National Flash-Fiction Day, Calum Kerr, and this year’s Costa Short Story Award Winner, Angela Readman.

Entries welcome nationally and internationally.
This year the costs to enter are as follows:
One or two entries: £2.50 / per story
Three entries (max): £6.00

Submission Guidelines
Submissions are open to writers of any nationality writing in English.
The entries must be solely the work of the named author and by submitting you are confirming that the work is your own. Any evidence to the contrary will result in the entry’s disqualification.
500 words maximum, no minimum, the title is not included in the word count.
Please email your entries in the body of your email NOT as an attachment
Entrants may enter up to three (3) flash fictions in each competition.
Ensure you include your PayPal Transaction ID (on your PayPal receipt page) in your email as proof of payment
Entries must never have been published, in print or online, and must never have won or been placed in a competition.
National Flash-Fiction Day will allow simultaneous submissions but, should your entries win a prize or are published they will become ineligible for the NFFD anthology and entry fees will not be refunded
All entries submitted can be on any subject, and written in any style or form.
Entrants may withdraw entries from submission by notification in writing; entry fees will not be refunded.
The deadline date for entries is 23:59 (UK time) on Sunday 18th May 2014.
Entry format
Entries must be in English.
Entries are not returned, keep a copy.
Amendments cannot be made to entries after they have been submitted.
Copyright
Worldwide copyright of each entry remains with the author, but National Flash-Fiction Day will have the unrestricted right to publish the selected stories in the anthology and any relevant promotional material.
