The Writeidea Prize
The Writeidea Prize is a new national short story prize.
First Prize: £500
Tower Hamlets Prize: £500
Five finalists’ prizes: £100 each
The six finalists and local winner will be invited to read their stories alongside the judge, Alex Wheatle, at the Writeidea Festival on Sunday 16 November 2014 at 2:00pm.
Judge: Alex Wheatle is the author of several novels including Brixton Rock and Brenton Brown. He was awarded an MBE for services to literature in 2008. See Alex talking about his writing and the Writeidea Festival.
Length: Stories must be a maximum of 4,000 words (no minimum).
Closing date: 31 July 2014
Entry to the prize is £5.00
or FREE to Tower Hamlets residents who are Idea Store members.

How to enter
If you are a Tower Hamlets resident and Idea Store member
Email your entry to: ideastore@towerhamlets.gov.uk with the subject line ‘Short Story Competition’.
Please note: You must accompany your entry with your full name, address, contact number and your Idea Store Card number.
All entries will be judged anonymously. Our administrators will assign your entry a code before it is passed for judging.
All other entries
Entry Fee: £5
You can pay the entry fee securely via Eventbrite.
Once you have paid your entry fee you can submit your story.
Email your entry to: ideastore@towerhamlets.gov.uk with the subject line ‘Short Story Competition’.
Please note: You must accompany your entry with your full name, address and an email address/contact number. Please include your registration receipt PDF that you will be emailed after paying through Eventbrite.
All entries will be judged anonymously. Our administrators will assign your entry a code before it is passed for judging.
