53-Word Story Contest—It’s Free and It’s Fun
Our winning story each month is published here, on this page, and the winning author receives the Press 53 poetry or short story collection of his or her choice.
Guidelines and Information:
—On the first day of each month, a guest judge will offer a prompt for a 53-word story. The prompt is announced on the Press 53 Blog and on this page.
—Your story must be 53 words—no more, no less—titles are not included in the word count.
—1 submission per person per month.
—e-mail your submission directly to 53wordstory@press53.com by the last day of the month, or go to our online 53-word story app (developed by Daniel Krawiec) where you can write your story (with the word count tracked automatically) and submit your entry from there.
—The winner will be announced on the 14th day of the following month.
—All winning 53-word stories will be published on this page and will be considered for publication on the Prime Number Magazine Editors’ Selections print annual..
—The 53-Word Story App is now available for download in the Android App Store (it’s called 53Words)! For those with other smart devices, check out the web app (developed by Daniel Krawiec) at that can be used to any desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone device, at 53wordstory.com.
