uHlanga Magazine – call for South African poetry submissions

uHlanga is a new annual magazine of poetry and photography from and inspired by the province of Kwazulu-Natal, South Africa.

There is no theme for this first issue; this is a blank slate. The only restriction is that submissions must focus or be inspired by some aspect of KZN life, culture or landscape.

Poetry Guidelines

  • Poems may not have been previously published in print, online, or broadcast.
  • Poems may be submitted in English and/or Zulu.
  • A maximum of three poems may be sent per author. Poems submitted over the limit will not be read.
  • Poems must sent by email to submissions@uhlangapress.co.za, along with the author’s name, age, contact details, and a short biography.

Photography Guidelines

  • Photographs may not have been previously published in print, online, or broadcast.
  • Please send a maximum of 10 images. Images submitted over the limit will not be opened.
  • Photostories and series are encouraged.
  • Send images in 300 dpi JPG format by email to submissions@uhlangapress.co.za, along with the photographer’s name, date of birth, contact details, and a short biography. Please attach captions in a separate .doc document.

Simultaneous submissions are welcome, but you must notify the editors of uHlanga immediately should your work be accepted elsewhere.

Queries? Email submissions@uhlangapress.co.za.
