The Press 53 Flash Fiction Contest

Winners Announced at AWP

Guidelines:

This is a free contest, open to all writers around the world, whose stories are in English.

Entries are accepted only through Submittable, your free online submissions manager. The judging for this contest is blind, so please remove your name from the story itself. All identifying information should be in your cover letter.

Deadline: midnight February 20 EST.

How to Enter: Submit one unpublished story of no more than 750 words on the theme “Visions and Apparitions.” 

One submission allowed per person. Attendance at AWP is not required to enter.

Stories will be judged by Christopher Allen, author of Conversations with S. Teri O’Type (a Satire), Shaindel Beers, author of The Children’s War and Other Poems, and Bonnie ZoBell, author of What Happened Here (Launched at AWP; weblink coming soon). 

Prizes: Up to three winning stories will be published by Metazen, Prime Number Magazine, and SmokeLong Quarterly, and winning authors will receive signed copies of the judges’ books. 

The winners will be announced during the AWP (Association for Writers and Writing Programs) Conference, at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, February 27, 2014, before the “East Comes West: Press 53, Bellevue Literary Review & Prime Number Magazine Reading” at Kells Irish Restaurant & Pub, 1916 Post Alley, Pike Place Market, Seattle, Washington.

Rights: Authors retain all rights to their stories.
