- Submission may be a poem, short story, play or essay on the theme of Vermont – its people, the place, its history, its values
- Submission may not exceed 1,500 words
- Submission may not have been published elsewhere
- Entrants may be amateur or professional writers
- Open

all
Vermont
residents,
including
seasonal
residents
and
students
enrolled
in
VT
colleges.
Employees
of
Vermont
Magazine,
Green
Mountain
Power,
and
previous
winners
are
ineligible
- The
winning
entry
will
be
published
in
Vermont
Magazine
,
and
the
author
will
receive
a
$1,500
cash
prizeInstructions
for
submitting
your
entry
- A completed submission must include this cover sheet and two copies of your written piece, printed on one side only.
- Do not include your name or any other identifying information on the front of your submission.
- On the back of each page of your submission, in pencil, lightly write your initials and month/day of birth. (Example: MSD 05‐28)
- Attach two copies of your written piece to this completed cover sheet with a paper clip.
- Mail your submission to Vermont Writers’ Prize, c/o Green Mountain Power, 163 Acorn Lane Colchester, VT 05446. All submissions will be acknowledged by postcard within 30 days.
