What is The Nobantu Project?

We are a dynamic online magazine highlighting the art and life of the African Diaspora, the African continent, and all peoples of color. We aim to invite dialogue while creating spaces for healing, transformation, and empowerment. The Nobantu Project breathes and imbibes 5 Principles: Ancestral Roadways, Political Awareness, Art Healing, Self-Empowerment, and Collective Sensibility. “Nobantu” is a Xhosa word meaning “mother of the people.”

Our Missions:

·       To highlight positive and provoking models of thought, philosophy, spirituality, and experience that will empower readers

·       To honor stories of struggle and trauma with integrity on a platform that is productive, progressive, relevant and healing for people of color

·       To uphold the vision for a responsible, accountable, conscientious world that respects its future inhabitants

·       To represent “alternative” world views and cultural experience by placing them front and center
