Commonwealth Writers<\/em>\u00a0has submitted a call for submissions inviting writers from islands in the Commonwealth (see below*) to contribute stories for a new anthology to be edited by Nicholas Laughlin:\u00a0Small Islands<\/em>. The deadline for submissions is Wednesday, October 5 (11.59pm in any time zone). The anthology will include\u00a0poetry, short stories, and\u00a0nonfiction\u00a0\u2013 which can include creative non-fiction, memoir, and photo or narrative essays \u2013\u00a0from an island perspective.<\/span><\/p>\n *Eligible countries\u00a0are: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Cyprus, Dominica, Fiji, Grenada, Jamaica, Kiribati, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Montserrat, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Pitcairn, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Samoa, Seychelles, Singapore, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Trinidad and Tobago,\u00a0Turks and Caicos Islands, Tuvalu, Vanuatu.<\/span><\/p>\n The anthology will be edited by Nicholas Laughlin, Editor,\u00a0Caribbean Review of Books<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n For short story submissions please send:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Your short story (1500 \u2013 6000 words), or a completed first draft<\/span><\/p>\n A description of your writing history (300 words max)<\/span><\/p>\n Your contact details (including postal address, email and telephone number) and nationality. Please note, we can only accept submissions from citizens of\u00a0Commonwealth<\/a>\u00a0countries.<\/span><\/p>\n If we offer you a commission for a nonfiction piece, there may be also be a small expenses fund available to help you to research your piece eg. local travel.
