Five additional finalists will be awarded $10. All eight stories and eight poems will be published in a special Kraken Edition of\u00a0<em>Devilfish Review<\/em>, in addition to our usual publication cycle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>General Contest Rules:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Deadline:<\/strong>\u00a0All submissions must be received by April 30th. Winners will be announced by May 31st.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Submission Guidelines:<\/strong>\u00a0All entries should be submitted between February 1st, 2015 and April 30th, 2015 using our\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/devilfishreview.submittable.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Submittable<\/a>\u00a0page. Your name, contact information, and word count should only appear in a brief cover letter. The title of your document should be the same as the title of your story. All submissions are read blind.\u00a0<strong>Please do not send a bio or include any contact information in your document.\u00a0<\/strong>We are reading blind for this contest! Please do not put your name on your manuscript or in your file name. Your name, contact information, and word\/line count (respective to fiction and poetry) should\u00a0<em>only\u00a0<\/em>appear in a brief cover letter.\u00a0<em>Should your name appear in the file name or in the manuscript itself, your entry will be withdrawn and your fee will be forfeit.<\/em><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 14pt;\">Please use our standard submission guidelines for formatting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>No previously published works are allowed.<\/strong>\u00a0If your submission is discovered to have been previously published, you will become ineligible from competition in the contest and your entry fee will be forfeited.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Rights:<\/strong>\u00a0All rights revert back to the author after publication.\u00a0<em>Devilfish Review<\/em>\u00a0requires only first publication rights and anthology rights.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>How Entry Fees Are Used:<\/strong>\u00a0The entry fees are used to fund the prize money and pay for contest advertisements\/maintenance. No editors receive any portion of the entry fees. Any excess funds will be used to maintain Devilfish Review (domain name renewal, Submittable fees, and payments for contributors).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Categories:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 14pt;\">In\u00a0<strong>Fiction<\/strong>\u00a0we are looking for entries of 5,000 words or fewer. The entry fee is $10. Only one fiction entry per person.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 14pt;\">In\u00a0<strong>Poetry<\/strong>\u00a0we are looking for entries of up to three poems, each poem may be up to 25 lines. The entry fee is $10. Only one poetry entry per person.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 14pt;\">In both Fiction and Poetry we are looking for entries that exemplify Devilfish Review\u2019s mission\u00a0as stated on our<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/devilfishreview.com\/about\/\" target=\"_blank\">\u00a0About<\/a>\u00a0page: \u201cWe publish fiction and poetry, with an emphasis on science fiction, fantasy, horror, and anything that might be referred to as speculative. We love magic realism, and fairy tales, and things that are a bit odd. With regards to characters, we believe that representation matters, and we would like to provide a space for those voices which are so often marginalized.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 14pt;\"><strong>Judging:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 14pt;\">This year\u2019s judges are\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/devilfishreview.com\/about\/sarah-mac\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sarah<\/a>,\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/devilfishreview.com\/about\/cathy-lopez\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cathy<\/a>, and\u00a0<a style=\"color: #000000;\" href=\"http:\/\/devilfishreview.com\/about\/katie-hoerth\/\" target=\"_blank\">Katie<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: 14pt;\">If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
