One prize of $1000 (CAD) is awarded. Poets contributing to\u00a0<em>The Malahat Review<\/em>\u00a0have won or been nominated for National Magazine Awards for Poetry and the Pushcart Prize.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\"><strong>Entries may be sent by regular mail or email.\u00a0<\/strong>When submitting by email, please ensure you include a\u00a0<em>cover letter<\/em>\u00a0with relevant contact details (more below under Enter by Email); do not simply put this information in the body of the email. You are, however, welcome to enter your work in our<a href=\"http:\/\/www.malahatreview.ca\/contests\/open_season\/info.html\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Open Season Awards<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">Each poem may not exceed 60 lines, excluding spaces between stanzas.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">No restrictions as to subject matter or aesthetic approach apply.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">Entry fee required:Entrants receive a one-year subscription to\u00a0<em>The Malahat Review<\/em>\u00a0for themselves or a friend.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li>$25 CAD for Canadian entries;<\/li>\n<li>$30 US for American entries;<\/li>\n<li>$35 US for entries from Mexico and outside North America.<\/li>\n<li><strong>$15 CAD for each additional entry\u00a0<\/strong>(from anywhere)<\/li>\n<li>See How to Pay below<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">Entrants submitting more than one entry receive a one-year subscription for the first entry only.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">One entry consists of 1-3 poems. A second entry will be 3-6 poems, a third entry 7-9 poems, etc. Each entry\u00a0<em>after\u00a0<\/em>the first is $15 CAD.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">Entries already published, accepted, or submitted elsewhere are ineligible.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">Previous publication is considered to be any appearance in print or online, including on or in a newspaper, newsletter, magazine, anthology, chapbook, book, website, electronic magazine, personal blog, Twitter, or Facebook. Please note that even if the print run or circulation of the print publication where the work has previously appeared is small, this is still considered previous publication. No work that has been excerpted elsewhere is eligible for submission; nor is a work that has been revised since its original publication.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">Entrants\u2019 anonymity is preserved throughout the judging. Contact information (including an email address) should not appear on the submission, but on a separate page that also lists the title of each enclosed poem.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">No entries will be returned.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">The winner and finalists will be notified via email.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">Entrants will not be notified separately by letter about the judges\u2019 decisions even if a SASE is included for this purpose.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">Only the winning entry will be published in\u00a0<em>The Malahat Review<\/em>\u2019s Winter 2014 issue.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">The winner will be announced on\u00a0<em>The<\/em>\u00a0<em>Malahat&#8217;s\u00a0<\/em>website, Facebook page, and Twitter account in July, 2014.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">The winner will be interviewed by a\u00a0<em>Malahat<\/em>\u00a0volunteer.
