<\/a><\/p>\nFourth Genre Steinberg Essay Prize<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/header>\n\nFOURTH GENRE<\/em>\u00a0STEINBERG ESSAY PRIZE SUBMISSION GUIDELINES<\/span><\/h1>\nFourth Genre<\/em>\u00a0will seek the best creative nonfiction essay for its annual\u00a0Fourth Genre<\/em>\u00a0Steinberg Essay Prize. Authors of previously unpublished manuscripts are encouraged to enter.<\/span><\/p>\nThe winning author receives $1,000 and the winning entry will be published in an upcoming issue of\u00a0Fourth Genre<\/em>. Runner-up entry will be considered for publication.<\/span><\/p>\nSubmissions that do not comply with these guidelines will be recycled unread. Please read all of the following carefully\u00a0prior<\/strong>\u00a0to submission. Complete entry fee checks fully and correctly; include with submissions.<\/span><\/p>\nSubmission Guidelines<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n\n- Reading period: January 1\u2013March 15<\/span><\/li>\n
- Submissions must be postmarked on or before March 15<\/span><\/li>\n
- Reading fee: $20 (U.S.) per entry<\/span><\/li>\n
- Make checks payable to \u201cMichigan State University Press\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n
- Multiple submissions accepted; include $20 entry fee for each individual submission<\/span><\/li>\n
- Include in cover letter (one page limit): name, address, phone number, email address, title of piece, and word count<\/span><\/li>\n
- The author\u2019s name or contact information should appear nowhere in the manuscript, including headers, footers, and title\u00a0 pages. No names should appear in the manuscript that could be used to identify the author or the author\u2019s affiliations.<\/span><\/li>\n
- 6,000 word limit (Longer submissions will not be read)<\/span><\/li>\n
