Gulf Coast\u00a0<\/i>is now accepting entries for the 2014 Gulf Coast Prizes in Fiction, Nonfiction, and Poetry.\u00a0The contest awards $1,500 and publication in\u00a0Gulf Coast<\/i>\u00a0to the winner in each genre. Two honorable mentions in each genre will be awarded $250.\u00a0<\/b>All entries will be considered for publication and the entry fee includes a one-year subscription to\u00a0Gulf Coast<\/i>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The 2014 Gulf Coast Prize in Fiction<\/b>\u00a0will be judged by\u00a0Andrea Barrett\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n Andrea Barrett\u00a0<\/b>teaches writing at Williams College and lives in North Adams, Massachusetts, with her husband, photographer Barry Goldstein. She’s the author of six novels, most recently\u00a0The Air We Breathe<\/i>, and three collections of stories:\u00a0Ship Fever<\/i>, which received the 1996 National Book Award,\u00a0Servants of the Map<\/i>, a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, and, most recently,\u00a0Archangel<\/i>.<\/span> John D\u2019Agata\u00a0<\/b>is the author of a few books of nonfiction, including\u00a0About a Mountain<\/i>and\u00a0Halls of Fame<\/i>, and the editor of\u00a0The Lost Origins of the Essay<\/i>\u00a0and\u00a0The Next American Essay<\/i>. He teaches creative writing at the University of Iowa, where he is the director of the Nonfiction Writing Program.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The 2014 Gulf Coast Prize in Poetry<\/b>\u00a0will be judged by\u00a0Rachel Zucker\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n Rachel Zucker<\/b>\u00a0is the author of eight books, including\u00a0MOTHERs<\/i>\u00a0(a memoir) and\u00a0The Pedestrians<\/i>\u00a0(a double collection of poems and prose). She lives in New York and teaches at New York University.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Entries for the Gulf Coast Prizes in Fiction and Nonfiction should be a single prose work not exceeding 7,000 words. Entrants for the Gulf Coast Prize in Poetry may submit up to five poems not exceeding 10 total pages in length. We will accept submissions both via\u00a0our online submissions manager<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and via postal mail.\u00a0Entrants may submit more than once or in more than one genre, but each new entry must be accompanied by a separate $23 entry fee.\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n
