If you\u2019re lucky enough to attend, here are five films on our radar.\u00a0<strong>Dialemi \u2013 Elle s\u2019amuse<\/strong>\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/EllesamuseDialemi\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">My Love: She\u2019s having fun<\/span><\/a>) by Gabonese director Nadine Otsobogo is a bit of magic realism. A sculptor pounds away at a stone bust in his seaside home, where he lives alone. A mysterious woman appears, who the sculptor\u2019s been waiting for. Excerpt above.\u00a0Next, though\u00a0<strong>5 Egyptian Pounds<\/strong>\u00a0is Egyptian director Mohammed Adeeb\u2019s first film, it was chosen to be screened at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival\u2019s Short Film Corner. A middle aged woman is being followed around Cairo by a somber, mysterious younger man. The climax of the film is revealed through his significance to her:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/mash.network.coull.com\/activatevideo?video_provider_id=2&amp;pid=8165&amp;website_id=10073&amp;width=610&amp;height=374&amp;video_provider_url=http%3A\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/U7NtGLj7f6g%3Fversion%3D3%26rel%3D1%26fs%3D1%26showsearch%3D0%26showinfo%3D1%26iv_load_policy%3D1%26wmode%3Dtransparent\" height=\"374\" width=\"610\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000; font-size: medium;\">Not much has been discussed about Rafael Padilla, a formerly enslaved Cuban man who became one of the first Black artists in France. Omar Sy is set to star as Padilla in an upcoming feature length film on his life. This documentary by directors Samia Chala and Thierry Lecl<em>\u00e8<\/em>re captures the stage production:\u00a0<strong>Chocolat \u2013 Clown N\u00e8gre<\/strong>\u00a0(\u201cChocolate, the black clown\u201d). A touchy subject in my own family (there are rumors that there was a Black Confederate soldier by choice), Ken Wyatt is hoping to shed some light on this much-debated topic and whether that \u201cchoice\u201d ever truly existed.
