Black Coffee, the star producer, DJ and lead ambassador of South African house music, stopped by East London’s Village Underground over the weekend to drop an extensive 3-hour set for Mixmag Live. The Durban-born beatsmith, who will be on the cover of the next Mixmag issue, held down the sold-out night blending hits from Culoe de Song, DJ Clock and Beatenberg, Uhuru, and Wizkid, as well as his own staples.
London’s not the only stop for Black Coffee this summer, if you’re in Boston catch the South African DJ at the upcoming AfrikCan festival alongside Wizkid, Alpha Blondy, Angélique Kidjo, DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown (aka Erykah Badu), Jidenna, and many others. While you’re at it, check out Black Coffee’s list of top African music videos and revisit our Okayafrica TV episode with the producer on his visit to New York City’s Central Park last year. Watch Black Coffee’s 3-hour Mixmag Live London set below.
