BY ALYSSA KLEIN

For the latest Beat Making Lab trip, producer Apple Juice Kid and Pierce Freelon flew to Ethiopia to work with the IntraHealth global health organization in an effort to use “hip-hop as a medium to spread awareness about health issues.” When last we touched down in Addis we got to know a 21 year-old singer and aspiring beatmaker by the name of Gelila. Episode three returns with a new student to take on the Lab’s challenge of penning lyrics about health issues in Ethiopia, resulting in a lyrical display. Watch the first three episodes in the six part series below and check back for more on Wednesdays.
