Read our general\u00a0submission guidelines<\/span><\/a>to get a sense of what we publish, or read the magazine itself. (It’s free.) Entries must be previously unpublished, either in print or online, between 1,500 and 8,000 words, and must not have been previously chosen as a winner or runner-up in another contest.<\/span><\/p>\n\nAwards:<\/strong>\u00a0First Prize is $1,000 and publication in the Fall 2013 issue (#8); Second Prize is $250 and publication; Third Prize is $100 and publication. All finalists receive notation in the Fall 2013 issue and are considered for publication in the magazine.<\/span><\/p>\nSubmission Fee:<\/strong>\u00a0$15 for each entry.<\/span><\/p>\nDeadline:<\/strong>\u00a0July 31, 2013.<\/span><\/p>\nJudging:<\/strong>\u00a0The contest will be judged by the magazine’s editorial staff.<\/span><\/p>\nHow to enter:<\/strong>\u00a0Entries are accepted\u00a0only<\/strong>\u00a0via our\u00a0Online Submission Form<\/span><\/a>. - You may send only one story per entry.<\/span><\/li>\n
- You may enter as many times as you like. Each separate entry requires its own entry fee of $15. (Please refer to the previous guideline.)<\/span><\/li>\n
- All entries will be considered for publication.<\/span><\/li>\n
- Previously published stories and stories forthcoming at other publications cannot be considered. This includes online journals and other websites. Entries may be simultaneous submissions, but the entry fee is nonrefundable if the story is accepted elsewhere. Please notify us immediately to withdraw a story that is taken elsewhere.<\/span><\/li>\n
- Winners and finalists will be announced to the public on or before August 31, 2013.<\/span><\/li>\n
- All writers who enter will be notified by email of the judges’ decisions, which will be final. The judges reserve the option to declare ties and to designate and award only as many winners and\/or finalists as are appropriate to the quality of contest entries and of work represented in the magazine.<\/span><\/li>\n
- Current employees or others affiliated with Chain Bridge Press, LLC, or\u00a0Northwind<\/em>\u00a0Magazine, are ineligible for consideration or publication. In addition, writers who have a strong personal or professional relationship with the editorial staff are asked to abstain from entering the contest in order to prevent a conflict of interest.<\/span><\/li>\n
