Fellowship Program

Everyday Feminism is offering a Fellowship Program in order to grow the number of intersectional feminists who can write about social justice issues in a way that reaches a more general progressive audience.

The Fellowship is a 6-month training and mentorship program for activists who write at the intersection of personal and social liberation. Fellows will learn the very writing approach that has helped Everyday Feminism reach 3-4 million people per month in less than 4 years and made more radical politics accessible, appealing, and relevant to a more mainstream audience.

This is a virtual program and Fellows can be anywhere in the world as long as they have Internet access and can participate in the online workshops, which will be held during US business hours. The hours are also flexible with only the online workshops being at a specific time.

About the Fellowship Program

The Fellowship Program will support the development of the Fellows through:

– Writing workshops to learn how to write in our unique approach

– Writing assignments to learn different styles and article structures

– Professional development workshops on topics ranging from developing your career in social justice, healing from systemic oppression, to self-care for activists

– Group discussions with other Fellows and Contributors to deepen their analysis and understanding of different issues

Expectations

Fellows are expected to do the following:

– Commit to 10-15 hours per week for 6 months

– Publish at 2-4 articles per month based on writing assignments

– Attend weekly workshops and discussions

Benefits

Fellows receive the following benefits, in addition to developing their writing skills:

– $100 per article published, paid on a monthly basis

– Unique offering of professional development support and mentorship specifically designed for activists

– Free access to all online courses and programs offered by Everyday Feminism

– Opportunity to stay on as a Contributing Writer after the Fellowship ends

– Joining the team for one of the largest online feminist magazines.

Next Steps

If you would like to become a Fellow for our Summer Session starting on May 16, 2016, please complete the application below. Applicants should have strong writing skills in a personal style and a sophisticated intersectional anti-oppression analysis.

Early applications are encouraged since it’s a rolling application process and the last day to apply is April 25th! Also due to the high volume of applications, we can only be in contact with people whose applications are being moved forward.

Everyday Feminism is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer. People with multiple marginalized identities – such as queer, trans, fat and/or disabled people of color – are strongly encouraged to apply.
