THE HISTORY OF

BLACK HAIR:

OUR “HAIR”STORY

black hair

Most Black people don’t know the history of Black hair and the significance it held in Africa. As I researched this video, I learned many new things. It felt great to discover more about our history. Efforts are made to erase our culture and connection to Africa so we must do our part to educate ourselves and each other to keep it alive. It was really important to me that I posted this and got it right so I hope you guys enjoy it. The pics are representations and some don’t match up perfectly with the dates or time period but most are really close. The information is factual. Make sure you continue to research this topic…there was a lot of information I didn’t include to keep the video fairly short.

In the comments, please feel free to leave anything about our hair history that you would like to add so we can continue to learn from one another. I plan to go into more detail about locs and other subtopics. There was some conflicting information about Europeans calling the enslaved African’s hair dreadful upon their arrival to America – this is where some say the term dreadlocks comes from and why individuals choose to only call them locs. I will continue to do more research on this topic and create a video about my findings.

Don’t forget to share this with a friend! Peace & Blessings!
