We are looking for diverse young adult stories for each theme – science fiction, fantasy, paranormal, horror, dystopian, steampunk, cyberpunk, alternate history etc. Take the theme and do something unique and unexpected with it.
Volume 6: Winter 2015

Theme: Love

Submissions due by: January 15 2015

 

Volume 7: Fall 2015

Theme: Hate

Submissions due by June 15 2015

 

Short Fiction Submissions

  • 2,000-7,000 words. We may be willing to accept a little over and under but these would be exceptional cases.

  • Send to submission.inaccuraterealities@gmail.com. with the subject line “Submission. Issue # + Title of Your Story”

  • In the body of the e-mail please include your  your name, story title with word count, byline, address, and any professional publication credits you think relevant.

  • Also include the full text of your story in the body of the e-mail in either Times New Roman (12 pt) or Courier (10 pt). Please note that unless we request attachments they will be deleted.

  • Submissions are welcome from authors of all ages, as long as the content itself is appropriate for Young Adults.

  • Simultaneous submissions are ok. Please let us know, however, if it has been accepted somewhere else.

  • You may only submit one story per theme, but you may submit to multiple themes at one time.

 

Rights and Distribution

  • At this time we can only offer a token payment of $15-$25 as payment but we are hoping to increase our rates as interest grows.
  • We give preference to previously unpublished work, but will consider reprints, if the rights have reverted back to you. We claim all world first-print and electronic English-language rights.

  • We maintain exclusive rights to story/artwork for one year, after that you are free to publish your story elsewhere, but it will still be available in archived issues of Inaccurate Realities. Please note that after being published by Inaccurate Realities, future publication of your story will be considered reprints (this may limit where your work could be published in the future)

  • Simultaneous submissions are ok but please let us know if your work have been picked up elsewhere so we can remove it from consideration.
  • We reserve the right to edit stories for length and content
  • We will reply to all submissions after their respective deadline
