With the passing off on March 22, 2013 of Chinua Achebe, the Nigerian prolific writer, one has to admit that the founding father of African literature has forsaken his pen forever. While the reference that Achebe is beheld as the founding father of African literature may seem untrue historically speaking, the fact remains that his contribution to the field is momentous, resounding   and seminal with his novel, Things Fall Apart(1958), broaching the horrors and hardships of Africans in the wake of colonialism  and its ensuing manifold fallouts.

Though his demise is henceforth an indisputable fact, Achebe is survived by a prominent output that cannot go unnoticed by any self-respecting Africanist. As a result, the  present book sets out to resuscitate Achebe, not in the Lazarus-like perspective, to hint at  the biblical figure, but rather its aim is to bring into the limelight Achebe’s oeuvre as a tremendous and well-deserved tribute to the late revered artist.

Under this backdrop, his wide range domains of interest such as prose, poetry, essays, juvenile literature… can be probed so as to hear anew the voice of this giant of the African literary scape. Any contribution germane to Achebe’s literary creation as well as his stand as a public figure lashing out his criticisms vis- à -vis the concerns of his time will be kindly considered.
